Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar-starrer Wazir will be hitting Indian screens on December 4 this year. The film, which was earlier speculated to release on October 2, will now release two months later.
Wazir is directed by Bejoy Nambiar and also stars Aditi Rao Hydari and Neil Nitin Mukesh in pivotal roles. John Abraham will be seen in a cameo in the film. Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who is producing the film, confirmed the release date via a statement. Farhan, 41, will play an Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) officer in the film, while Amitabh is playing an ailing wheelchair-bound chess-master. The teaser of Wazir, which had released with PK, left the audience craving for more.
Farhan’s character is named Dhaanish Ali, while Bachchan plays Pandit Omkar Nath Dhar. With its dark and edgy teaser, the Bejoy Nambiar film has already upped the anticipation levels of the audience. Director of films such as Shaitaan and David, Nambiar has already earned much praise from the Munna Bhai MBBS filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
“Bejoy is a far better director than me. The kind of films that he has made is proof of the fact that he can direct way better than what I could ever imagine. During the edit, I have seen scenes which he has shot and I know it for a fact that I would have never been able to visualise the scene in that manner. That’s why I think it was a very great decision that Bejoy is directing this film and not me. Abhijaat Joshi and I have put in a lot of effort over the past five years to write this film’s story and script. Now that we are seeing the story come alive on the edit table, I think we were not wrong in getting Bejoy to direct it,” Chopra had earlier been quoted as saying.
