Outbreak of Nipah Virus In Southern India

Deadly nipah virus has struck in southern part of India. Due to this virus regular markets has been affected. “We are afraid of eating fruits” A local resident said.

More than a dozen people have lost their lives in past month due Nipah virus. The host of the virus seems to be fruit bat. Everyone is advised not to touch anything with the possibility of a bat touch.

“Fruit sales are very low.” a local fruit vendor said. He is forced to sell fruits at very low prices than normal.

75% of infected people die and there is no vaccine available for nipah virus. The health ministry have been looking into the issue very seriously.

It has also affected tourism in Kochi and other areas of Kerala.
