POKHARA: On Monday a woman was found dead in the rural community of Machhapuchhre-8 in the Kaski district.
According to the police, 79-year-old Kaushila Gurung was found dead in her room on Monday afternoon.
After preliminary investigations, police found that Gurung was hit with a stone Sunday night, police superintendent (SP) and police chief Kaski Om Rana said.
SP Rana also claimed that the deceased was suffering from deep head injuries that caused excessive bleeding; she also bore marks around her neck. It is assumed that the motive behind the murder could be a robbery like a gold necklace and a pair of missing gold earrings.
A team of police, including SP Rana and deputy police superintendent (DSP) Rabindra Man Gurung, arrived on the scene that night and took the body to the western regional hospital of Pokhara for postmortem.
Kaushila had lived with her eldest son, Chitra Bahadur Gurung, who had gone to his sister’s place in Rivan to work the day before. When the son returned home on Monday, he found the house locked from the outside and saw his mother from the motionless window. He informed the police, after which they broke into the house and found that Kaushila was already dead.
The investigation into the case is ongoing and the author will be found soon, Rana said
