Reliance Launching Free Internet.org Initiative With Facebook Tomorrow

Facebook and Reliance Communications (RCom) may join hands to launch Internet.org in India. In this regard, Facebook and Reliance Communications are hosting an event in Mumbai. The invite release, which reads “One launch will make a billion dreams takeoff”, is believed to be unique as it hints at connecting a large number of people.

However, Facebook and Reliance have refused to comment on this, media reports said.

The press conference which is held tomorrow (10 February 2015) from 12 noon onwards, at Hotel Taj Vivanta, Mumbai, is to be jointly hosted by Reliance Communications and Facebook. Also, the Senior Global Leadership Teams from RCOM and Facebook will be personally present at the event venue to share details of the announcement. Here is the invitation.

Ghana, Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya and Colombia are the five countries where Facebook has already launched the Internet.org app. If it happens here India could be the first country in Asia to get the Internet.org app.

Through Internet.org app, Facebook offers free access to some apps like Messenger, BBC News, Facebook, Wikipedia and several others.
