Delhi HC Issue Notice To Arvind Kejriwal On Plea Seeking Cancellation Of His Candidature

On Monday acting on a plea seeking the cancellation of candidature of AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi constituency, the Delhi High Court has issued a notice to him.
The plea had been filed by Congress leader Kiran Walia, questioning the legality of Kejriwal’s candidature from the New Delhi seat as he is a resident of Uttar Pradesh.

According to the Representation of People’s Act (RPA), to fight state elections, a person has to be a resident of that particular state. Kejriwal stays in Kaushambi, which falls under Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.
